The
communicator's role in change
Welcome to the first issue of Melcrum's monthly newsletter on change communication (as a subscriber to The Source for Communicators you've been sent this first issue as a taster, but you can subscribe now for the next issue). Over the coming months I'll be sharing some tips, tricks and thoughts about change communication. I'll focus on lessons learned both personally and from other communicators around the globe as together we share the great journey of change. I was recently reminded that change and the emotions involved are the same as with the grieving process. A personal tragedy really brought home the fact that indeed it is the initial shock and emotions like anger, resistance, blocking and denial that affect us during change. The role of the communicator I recently posted a message on Melcrum's Communicators' Network asking people to share their top tips for change communication. Below is some of the great advice people offered: "Identify 'change leaders' across the organization that have the skills to represent formal communications within the local culture and at human level." I hope you enjoy this issue. Sign up now for regular updates on how you can manage change communication in your organization. I wish you all kindest wishes for the festive season. Regards,
