While dealing with change is a necessary and understandable part of business, people often react with scepticism and uncertainty. This can slow down the pace at which an organisation adapts to a new situation and continues with “business as usual”. In the case of major change, reluctance to get on board with a new strategy or direction can have a serious impact on performance, productivity and customer service.

But if we look carefully at why change is resisted, the cause can often be linked to the way in which it was communicated, how people were involved in the process and how they were guided through the typical stages of a change process. It goes without saying that the way we communicate change will directly influence the way that change is perceived and acted on.

Overview

The objective of this course is to examine successful strategies and tactics for communicating change and shed light on why people resist change and what impact this has on their behaviour and the business.
