Overview

Aims of the course:
To allow delegates to make a dramatic leap forward in their ability to facilitate groups.
To allow delegates to make a dramatic difference to the quality of learning taking place in the groups they work with.

What is mastering facilitation?
Facilitation comes from the Latin root ‘facile’ or ‘facere’ meaning, “to make easy”.  Good facilitation involves making interventions that help the group move towards its goal more directly, enjoyably and quickly.  The Master Facilitator is one who can get the best out of individuals and groups in a way that is largely invisible and seemingly effortless.

Benefits of Attending

As a result of the training delegates will:

    • Deliver higher quality training or meetings
    • Be able to identify what kind of intervention is most appropriate in a given situation
    • Be able to make appropriate interventions skillfully
    • Understand how to engage effectively with different groups
    • Have a kitbag of facilitation games, tools and techniques
    • Have a better understanding of group dynamics and how to affect them

As a young man, he was an international gymnast, and after retiring from sport spent 15 years as an actor and storyteller working in theatre, TV, circus and opera.

As well as being a published business writer (he most recently contributed to Brand Engagement – How Employees Make or Break Brands, Buckingham 2007), he has a concurrent career in the arts, writing for BBC radio, TV and for the stage (he has two West End shows to his name).  He is currently Literary Associate to the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch.

The unifying element in all his work is that he brings techniques from the arts (and his imagination) to bear on business issues and people.  Motivating, inspiring and getting the best out of people is his passion and his penchant.
