09:00 - 12:30

Morning Workshop:
Developing a change communications plan

Image of Sue Dewhurst

Led By Sue Dewhurst, Competent Communicators

Successful change communication starts with a robust communication plan. This practical and interactive workshop takes you through a step-by-step approach to developing a plan focused on creating maximum value for your organisation and built on sound change management theory. Leave with templates and tools that will guide you through the change communication planning process.

This workshop will teach you how to:

  • Lay the right foundations: set clear communication objectives
  • Take the audience view: identify individual and group stakeholders’ perspectives and needs
  • Ditch the management speak: embrace the principles of simple, clear and memorable messaging
  • Go beyond the tell/sell: understand the tactics that change behaviour
  • Keep it real: use feedback and measurement to shape your plan

Sue Dewhurst Sue spent ten years working as a senior in-house internal communicator with Royal Mail, Barclays and latterly ntl as Director of Internal Communications before founding her consultancy business. She specialises in change-related communication, and is known for combining strategic thinking with a pragmatic approach, making sure communication solutions 'actually work'. Her experience ranges from restructuring and redundancies, large-scale IT change and vision and values work through to crisis communication.

13:30 - 17:00

Afternoon Workshop:
Storytelling techniques to drive change

tony Quinlan

Led by Tony Quinlan, Narrate

Managing change is a challenging process. Too often our approach to managing and communicating change is to create artificially simple messages or complicated processes.
Stories are about change.  They can be intuitive, complex and engaging tools for any organisation going through a transition. Yet their use in change programmes is often stilted and misleading.  This workshop is an introduction to the conscious, intentional use of stories to support, encourage and engage organisations in change.

In this interactive and dynamic workshop, you’ll learn:

  • To explore different scenarios and paths to implement change within the organisation
  • Narrative tools and techniques to generate, clarify and energise culture change
  • How to take an emotional audit of an audience’s current perception
  • Indicators of future success in traumatic organisational change programmes
  • How to create a vibrant, intuitive framework for all internal and external communications
