RWE npower shares secrets of internal comms at Melcrum's Strategic Communication Management Summit

LONDON, October 1st, 2010

By effectively tapping into the communication style of RWE npower’s new CEO from day one, Rosie Mowatt, Head of Internal Communication led her team on a mission that resulted in increased leadership visibility for employees, CEO buy-in for their internal comms efforts and a raised profile for the communication function.

Rosie Mowatt will be sharing her story at Melcrum's 9th Annual Strategic Communication Management Summit in London on 12th-13th October. Joining her will be more than 15 other senior-level communicators, each of whom will discuss their winning approaches to tackling key industry issues in panel debates, interactive workshops and benchmarking sessions.

Says Melcrum Group Managing Director, Robin Crumby,  ‘Results like those achieved by Rosie Mowatt and her team serve as clear evidence that it’s not just budgets or resources, but also the ability to spot and seize an opportunity that is pivotal to ensuring the internal communication function plays a recognisable and influential role in key decision-making.’

Melcrum will be holding its 9th Annual Strategic Communication Management Summit at the Millennium Hotel, London, on 12th-13th October 2010.

The Annual Summit is the event of the year in internal communications, where communication professionals from around the world gather to explore the modern role of internal communicators and celebrate the work and results of pioneering practitioners who are defining standards and setting the precedents.

Says Robin Crumby, ‘Our Strategic Communication Management Summit is more than just the largest professional gathering for those working in Internal Communication. It's an annual meeting of minds to share expertise and pave the way forward for a year of measurable business results.‘

There will be two important keynote sessions this year.  The first,  ‘What leaders want and value from internal communication: Insight into a successful collaboration at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ will be led by James Chalmers, head of strategy & talent and Brian Bannister, director of communications at PWC.

On day two the keynote session will be ‘The Volvo Way: redefining the corporate culture to drive high performance and high commitment’, led by Charlie Nordblom vice president, strategic internal communication, Volvo Group.

There will also be a series of practical pre-Summit workshops, which are hands-on, interactive sessions designed to allow participants to delve deeply into specific areas of communication and return to the office with real solutions that can be implemented immediately.

Workshops this year include 'Communicating through change' led by Hilary Scarlett, Associate Consultant Couravel and Mike Pounsford, managing director, Couravel, and 'Leading engagement - equipping leaders to engage staff with strategy', led by Bill Quirke, managing director, Synopsis Consulting.

Cost of the Summit for Melcrum members is £1,825 for Conference and Workshops (Non-members £2,030) or £1,405 for Conference only (£1,565 for non-members). Further information http://www.melcrum.com/scmsummit.html
