MacLeod and Clarke take centre stage at the 10th Annual Strategic Communication Management Summit and unveil their next steps to improve the UK business landscape with a government-backed Employee Engagement Taskforce

LONDON, September 5, 2011

Following the findings of their 2009 report to government, "Engaging for Success" which revealed the forcibly strong correlation between employee engagement and business outcomes, in March 2011, David MacLeod and Nita Clarke launched the government-backed Employee Engagement Taskforce.

In light of this launch, the question now being asked is, "What role does internal communication play in sustaining the theme of employee engagement on the corporate agenda, ensuring it remains a priority whilst delivering against the commercial demands of the business?".

MacLeod and Clarke will address this question in a keynote session on day one of the 10th Annual Strategic Communication Management Summit in London. They’ll be joined by senior comms representatives from leading organisations including eBay Europe, first direct, Harrods, Unilever, Nationwide Building Society, AkzoNobel, MS SharePoint, Yammer Inc, the Intranet Benchmarking Forum and NHS Blood and Transplant.

Keynote speakers on day two are Nalin Miglani, chief HR & communication officer and Philippa Brown, employee communication manager at Tata Global Beverages, who will share how they successfully used a period of change to develop a unique world-class corporate culture that’s driving solid business results.

Says Rebecca Richmond, global research & content director at Melcrum and Summit chair, "We wanted to make this 10th Anniversary Summit our best yet, and when I look at the line up of speakers that will join us over the two days, as well as the very current need to define and champion the role of IC in a business context going forward, I think that we've achieved that. I'm really excited to be chairing the event, but even more so to learn from the people who will be sharing their thoughts, experiences and best practice".

The Strategic Communication Management Summit takes place at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London on 12-13 October 2011. The SCM awards dinner is on the evening of the 12 October and will formally recognise and reward the work of the highest performing internal communicators.
