Brightest minds come together for Melcrum's first-ever Digital Communication Summit in London
LONDON, January 30, 2012
Melcrum have launched the first of a series of events set to take place across the globe in 2012. The Digital Communication Summit will take place at 200 Aldersgate, St Paul’s in London on 27-28 March 2012 and will focus on the role of communicators in building an engaged and collaborative workforce in the digital workplace.
While most organisations now have digital tools in place, the current and crucial challenge for communicators lies in the creation of an optimal environment that enables collaborative activity and its associated business outcomes. It demands a cultural shift, breakdown of departmental silos, a change in leadership style and the formation of partnerships with key business functions such as IT, HR, and Knowledge Management amongst others.
These key areas have been carefully embedded across the Summit agenda and will be explored through inspirational keynote sessions, powerful case studies, and interactive discussions.
This event is timely in that findings from Melcrum’s 2011 research report, Future for Internal Communication, identified the "Drive for Productivity" as one of four key trends set to shape the IC landscape and increase significantly in importance over the next 3-5 years, as the ability of an organisation to create an agile workforce that can strive for productivity will be a defining factor for growth and competitor differentiation. The need to innovate and tap into internal intelligence is fundamental to meet this goal, and collaboration has a crucial role to play.
Says Melcrum’s managing director, EMEA, and chair of the event, Rebecca Richmond,
"This is the first in a series of annual international events in which we'll explore the implications of “the digital world” for internal communication - with Summits taking place in the UK, USA and Australia over the coming months. At each, we'll be exploring how we should be thinking about our strategy in light of what technology and the digital workspace can help us achieve (and the challenges it might raise). We'll also be highlighting the collaborative environment and knowledge sharing that companies must aspire to in order to succeed, and the fundamental role of IC in establishing that future state."
Highlights on this year's programme include:
• Keynote sessions - Paul Miller on his top ten predictions for intranets and digital communication in 2012 and Laurie Hibbs, HR director at LexisNexis UK on driving the adoption of Yammer to support a move away from purely top-down messaging.
• Case studies from industry leading organisations including IBM, Nokia, Bupa, the adidas Group, Engage Group and BT Conferencing.
• Building a "Collaboration Compendium" - an interactive session focused on how IC can most effectively work with and better understand the needs of key business partners.
• Roundtable discussions based on areas of delegate interest and concern.
The cost to attend the Summit before 24 February is £1290 for Melcrum members and £1440 for non-members. Bookings made after 24 February will be charged at £1445 for Melcrum members and £1595 for non-members.
