So who are our members?

A typical Melcrum member would be a senior-level internal communicator working for a large complex global business. His or her role will normally involve drafting the communication strategy for the organization, measuring the results from communication programs, organizing and facilitating workshops to help line managers become better communicators, communicating change internally, and engaging employees using social media. Members represent all industry sectors including financial services, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, government, communications and technology.

Why Melcrum?

Melcrum’s name comes from the last names of its founders, Victoria Mellor and Robin Crumby who started the business in 1996 as a kitchen-table start-up. Today, Melcrum’s energetic staff and affiliate network span the globe, with employees in the USA, UK, South Africa and Australia.

Meet the management team

Victoria Mellor, CEO, Melcrum

image of Victoria Mellor, Chief Executive, Melcrum Victoria is one of the founders of Melcrum and is now its CEO. Since she started  Melcrum with Strategic Communication Management in 1996 her mission has been to produce great research and training that helps communicators add more value to their organizations.

As well as helping to develop the Internal Communication Black Belt Program internationally, she’s also been on the team designing Melcrum’s Framework for an Effective Communication Function - an approach quickly being adopted by many global organizations.

She leads Melcrum's Strategic Communication Research Forum, a membership group of senior internal communicators from leading global organizations and regularly speaks to communication teams about the importance of effective communication. Recent clients include: Vodafone, LloydsTSB, RSA, Orange, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Ericsson, Sky, HMRC, RBS, Shell, BP and Unilever.


Robin Crumby, Managing Director, Melcrum

image of Robin Crumby, Managing Director, MelcrumRobin is Melcrum's Managing Director and co-founded the business with Victoria in 1996. Robin oversees the marketing, sales and operations for Melcrum and has helped the business grow from humble beginnings as a “kitchen-table” start-up to an international business with customers in 90 countries, whilst still retaining a strong entrepreneurial culture. He is a regular speaker and writer on marketing topics and international growth. Robin has launched dozens of online networking groups and websites for communicators and is always on the look out for new business ideas.


Claire Leheny, VP Business Development, Melcrum

Claire LehenyClaire oversees new business development for the company and leads the US regional office. Claire has held executive-level positions in B-to-B information companies since 2001. She most recently worked as senior vice-president of content development at Mortgage Success Source, a subsidiary of UCG, a multi-million dollar portfolio company based in Washington DC. Prior to joining the information industry, Claire taught writing to high school and university students. Claire holds a BA from Oberlin College and a master’s degree in English Literature from Georgetown University. She is active in the Specialized Information Publishers Association.


Katrina Andrews, Marketing Director, Melcrum

image of Katrina Andrews, Head of Marketing, Melcrum Katrina is our Marketing Director and heads up our Australian office, opened in 2007. Katrina has launched Melcrum’s range of products and services in Australia and has built a fantastic community of communicators in Sydney and Melbourne. As Marketing Director, she also leads the marketing team. Before joining Melcrum in 2004, Katrina worked in marketing for organizations based in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Katrina recently launched the Asia Pacific network of the Strategic Communication Research Forum working with many of Australia’s leading companies including Telstra, Australia Post, AMP, St George, Bayer and Shell.


Mandy Thatcher, Content Director, Melcrum

image of Mandy Thatcher, Head of Content, MelcrumMandy Thatcher joined the company in 2002 as editor of the flagship journal Strategic Communication Management. Since then she has played an important role in the development of Melcrum’s impressive portfolio of events, research and publications, helping the company become the first port of call for communication professionals around the world seeking guidance on global best practice. With a background in writing and editing for a variety of business publications, her current role encompasses leading the editorial team, steering the direction of annual events such as the Strategic Communication Management Summit and supporting members of Melcrum’s Strategic Communication Research Forum through the provision of tailored research and resources for their teams.
