Lead the charge: A 5-step approach for engaging top talent ready for economic upturn

February 16th, 2010 By Kelly Dyer, Editor
kelly.dyer@melcrum.com

Now that the economic future is starting to look a bit brighter, are you ready to lead your industry in pushing forward and winning back business? Are your employees, and specifically your top-performing employees, engaged enough to take the organization to greater heights?

In this article on the Internal Comms Hub, James Brook of Titan Talent suggests a five-step approach that moves away from large, quick-win engagement campaigns and instead, addresses the root cause of disengagement and solutions to it.

"Because people typically don't get much feedback on their strengths during their life and career, they frequently don't understand their strengths as well as their weaknesses," says Brook.

"Many even experience anxiety, discomfort and embarrassment when talking about their strengths as they've learned to fear complacency, failure and being too different from the rest of the "pack". There are many ways to build self-awareness about strengths, including reflecting more on one's conscious experience, and feedback from colleagues and other stakeholders."

Find out what other pieces of advice Brook has by reading the full article.

If you're currently working to re-engage employees after some turbulent times and want to focus them on helping to turn the business from loss to profit, we have just the solution for you.

Alana Renner, head of engagement and internal communications at Post Office Ltd will be sharing her experiences of doing exactly this at Melcrum's Internal Communication Change Conference next month. There are still some places available so find out more and book your place today.

Until next time,

Kelly Dyer

P.S. One way to engage employees, particularly Generation Y, is through video. Want to know more? We still have some places left on our one-day professional development course "A communicator's guide to online video" so book your place now!
