The golden rules for great
change communication
|
 |
As conference season begins and we enter the second half of the year following a turbulent period of considerable change many of you will be reflecting on the events of the first six months of 2009 and discussing how you and your teams can drive momentum forwards into 2010. So perhaps now - as economists across the world hint at signs of financial recovery - is as good a time as any to get back to basics and refocus on the core skills of successful internal communication.
In a recently published article on the Internal Comms Hub, Adrian Cropley, CEO, Cropley Communications in Australia, shares his Golden rules for great change communication. He advises that in order to find change communication a breeze we as communicators should plan accordingly and split messages into smaller
chunks. And, he adds, to obey the
primary golden rule of keeping it simple in order to sail
your way to success.
Cropley's top tips include:
- Keep it simple. Break down messages into a series of small changes,
not one giant one.
- Don't hand over responsibility of change communication to the
change manager alone.
- Ensure you have buy-in to the change from the top down and the bottom
up.
Read on for more top tips and to see how it's essential for people to move through the change curve.
Until next time,
