Are you guilty of committing communication's 5 worst offenses?

April 7th, 2010 By Kelly Dyer, Editor
kelly.dyer@melcrum.com

They say that once you've passed your driving test, over time the bad habits start creeping in: You take one hand off the steering wheel, you don't bother checking all mirrors before you maneuver and you're more likely to take risks. Confidence can quickly turn into complacency and that's when things are more likely to go wrong.

It may well be the same with communication. Over time the basics are forgotten and we cut corners and do things our own way. Not necessarily because our way is more effective, but because it's the habit we fall into.

On the Internal Comms Hub this week, use this article from communication consultant and US Internal Communication Black Belt trainer, Geri Rhoades to review your communication capabilities and see if you're guilty of committing the five worst communication offenses.

Are there new recruits in your team who you feel would benefit from learning the ropes externally rather than risk passing on any bad habits that you've picked up over the years? If so, take a look at our Introduction to Internal Communication one-day training course.

Covering topics including how to understand audiences and approaches to segmentation, creating and delivering meaningful messages that work across all media and choosing channels and matching them to audience needs, this is the perfect way to help develop the internal communicators of the future.

Until next time,

Kelly Dyer

P.S. Do you know how to get the highest ROI on your training budget without having to compromise on quality? Melcrum in-house training. We can tailor all our training to your particular needs or desired outcome and deliver it in your office. Find out more.
