13 key questions a leader needs to answer credibly

My firm, dg&a, recently conducted a poll that showed 76% of communicators surveyed need more information on employee engagement to support their leadership and 70% want help with leadership communication. These are significant statistics.

As human resource and communication professionals, you are a strategic partner in shaping the messages and developing the platforms of your organization’s senior leaders. Research has shown, trust in leadership is a key driver of engagement and so I wanted to share with you my 13 key questions a leader needs to answer credibly. Inspiring employees and engaging them is about meeting their communication needs. Please share these 13 questions with your leaders and help them develop answers that bring out their personal strengths, style and credibility.

1. How did you get to where you are today?
2. How do you want people to know you? What makes you tick?
3. What are your expectations of employees?
4. What should they expect of you?
5. On what do you want to put a stake in the ground?
6. What’s your vision? Why should your various stakeholders believe in your and the vision?
7. What are our business goals? Our business strategies?
8. What initiatives will drive the business today? In the future?
9. What are the new behaviors you expect employees to perform successfully to achieve your results?
10. What are our key initiatives and are they designed to accomplish?
11. What does success look like?
12. How will we measure success?
13. What needs to change to make this happen?

Let’s keep the conversation going, email me at dgrossman@yourthoughtpartner.com with any questions or for more information on dg&a’s leadership training click here.
